All methods of instruction at our animal training school are based on affectionate training with hands on applications and demonstrations at our animal compound in Los Angeles in a controlled and safe environment.
Animals included in the course are: Bengal Tigers, African Lions, Asiatic and African Spotted Leopards, Black Panthers, Grizzly Bears, Capuchin Monkeys, and Hyenas.
Renee "I highly recommend this course for people who are serious about working with large exotic animals. This has been the best investment of time and money!"
Curriculum
After the initial safety and orientation introduction students are familiarized with hands on interaction with each species at Hollywood Animals (Tigers, Bears, Leopards, Panthers, Lions and Monkeys). Students then are teamed up and are assigned an animal for them to work with for the remainder of the course. Each day there is a roundtable discussion and demonstration on various animal care and training techniques, students then apply that technique with their animal. At Graduation, students make an oral presentation among friends and family followed by a demonstration of the training and handling methods they have learned.

• Enclosure Design - After Zoo Day students are required to write a critique on one of the exhibits that they visited.
• Film Set Day - Our instructors/trainers play act as the crew (film director, cinematographer, soundman, AD, special effects, etc.) complete with camera equipment, sets and lights. The students come to the set with their animals as the studio animal trainers. We try and make this very realistic so that students get a glimpse of what an exotic studio animal trainer faces each day on the set.
• Reading - Students will be given textbooks, "The New Encyclopedia of Mammals" and "Hollywood Animals' Training Reference Guide", as well as training flash cards (click here to see sample).

Evaluation & Grading |top|
Students will be graded on safety, team work, animal husbandry, training techniques and understanding of animal behavior; which are all necessary to successfully secure a career in the animal field. Students that pass will receive a Certificate of Accomplishment, and can apply for our intern/volunteer program and receive job recommendations and free access to our job board.
